3rd man arrested in West Columbia woman’s death

WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — West Columbia police have arrested a third man in the stabbing death of a woman earlier this year.

Police Chief Dennis Tyndall told local reporters that 30-year-old Eric B. Bassett of Little Mountain has been charged with failure to provide information to police.

Tyndall said Bassett lived where the body of Susan Wilkes was found on June 18. The police chief said Bassett had information that would have helped the investigation and he did not provide it when he was questioned.

Tyndall said Bassett knew the location of the body and information about the killing.

Wilkes’ husband, Marion Wilkes and her son, Joseph Cody Wilkes, have been charged with murder.

It was not clear if Bassett has an attorney.
