VA holds 2 mental health events for vets, families

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — The Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia is holding two mental health events to help address the needs of veterans and their families.
VA spokesman Kevin McIver says Thursday’s event is at the Medallion Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The second event is slated for Sept. 17 in Greenville at the TD Convention Center.
Information is available on benefits, enrollment procedures, and care for post-traumatic stress disorder, substance abuse, military sexual trauma and traumatic brain injury.
The VA Outpatient Mental Health Clinics in Anderson, Greenville and Spartanburg as well as the S.C. Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention are helping sponsor the events.
