2-year-old boy shot to death in Bamberg County

DENMARK, S.C. (AP) – Bamberg County sheriff’s deputies and the State Law Enforcement Division are investigating the shooting death of a 2-year-old boy. Multiple media outlets reported that the shooting happened around 3:30 p.m. Saturday near the boy’s home in Denmark. Coroner Billy Duncan said the body of Hayden Mayes of Denmark was taken to the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston for an autopsy. Hayden was pronounced dead at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg. The details on the shooting have not been released. No charges have been filed.
