Lexington sheriff’s deputy shoots burglary suspect

LEXINGTON, S.C. (AP) — A Lexington County sheriff’s deputy has been placed on administrative leave after shooting a possible home burglary suspect.
Sheriff Lewis McCarty said in a statement that the shooting happened around 12:30 p.m. Monday when the deputy responded to a home near Lexington.
Multiple media outlets reported the State Law Enforcement Division is investigating.
McCarty did not identify the deputy Monday.
The sheriff said 18–year-old Adrian Lamont Ryans of Lexington was shot and wounded. Ryans was being treated at a hospital for a gunshot wound that McCarty said did not appear to be life-threatening. The sheriff said charges are pending against Ryans.
McCarty said deputies also arrested a 17-year-old from Lexington.
