Haley to visit with India’s prime minister in NY

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley is heading to New York this weekend to meet with India Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Haley’s office said Friday the governor will be joined by her husband and her parents, who were born in India. Haley will also spend some time in private discussions with Modi on Sunday.

The Embassy of India invited Haley to visit Modi as he spends five days in the United States. Modi also plans to speak to the United Nations and visit the White House.

Haley will be heading to India for a 10-day trade mission in November after the elections. Haley has visited the country where her parents were born just once, when she was 2.
