USC official talks crime stats

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – The University of South Carolina is trying to ease safety concerns after reports of several crimes around campus. In this week’s student e-mail, Vice President of Student Affairs Dennis Pruitt attached a report, which shows crime is actually declining on school grounds. You can take a look too by visiting this link: http://uofscsastayinformed.files.wordpress.com/2014/09/campus-safety-v3.pdf Pruitt went on to say upon further investigation, it was determined there was no robbery on the Horseshoe, no gunman behind the Russell House, no assault on the train tracks behind Greek Village and no robbery at Main and Whaley streets as initially reported in recent weeks. The Columbia Police Department was collaborating with these investigations. It has not released any information confirming that statement. We’re trying to see if we can gather more details.
