US judge won’t change ruling on SC adult store

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — A federal judge has refused to change his ruling that will allow Columbia to close an adult store.

Multiple media outlets reported that U.S. District Judge Terry Wooten refused to change an order he issued in February about the sex shop Taboo.

The store owner had asked Wooten to allow the store to remain open while it challenged the city’s decision not to renew its business license. Wooten refused to do that in February and has now refused to reconsider that decision.

City officials have fought the store since it opened in 2011. They worried the store might discourage other businesses from locating in the area. Some nearby residents also complained about having a sex shop in the area.

The store sells sex toys, movies and other adult-oriented merchandise.
