CPD Officer Terminated Following Sexual Assault Allegation

Columbia, S.C. (WOLO)– The Columbia Police Department has fired an officer accused of sexual assault. Chief Skip Holbrook announced Thursday that Michael Cross has been terminated for multiple violations of CPD policy and procedures related to employee misconduct. On September 24th, officers responded to a sexual assault call at Garners Crossing Apartments. Police say the victim identified Cross as her assailant. At that point the investigation was turned over to SLED. Police say Cross has turned himself in and is charged with Misconduct in Office.
