13-year-old boy shot to death in Lexington home

LEXINGTON, S.C. (AP) — Authorities are investigating the shooting death of a 13-year-old boy in a Lexington home where no adults were around.

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office said in a news release that Ethan Payne died at the hospital Wednesday afternoon about a half-hour after he was shot.

Police say there were two other children at home with Payne when he was shot, but no adults were there.

Authorities say they are still trying to figure out what led to the shooting and how the children got the gun. No charges have been filed.
