3 Boaters Rescued in Beaufort County

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (AP) _ Three men have been rescued after their boat’s motor stopped while the men were fishing offshore in Beaufort County. The Island Packet of Hilton Head reported that Beaufort Water Search and Rescue said they responded to a call from the U.S. Coast Guard about distressed boaters late Saturday afternoon. Beaufort Search and Rescue already had three boats on the water that had been searching for a St. Helena Island man whose body was found. Officials think 52-year-old Joe Louis Johnson drowned. Search and Rescue spokesman Dick Jennings said the three men and their 20-foot boat were towed to shore. Jennings said none of the men needed medical help.
