COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — In a visit to Columbia, for a ‘Get Out The Vote’ event, Vice President Joe Biden wasted no time taking issue with the Republican Party. “They talk about how much they care about us all. They say they care about the middle class. They say they value education, “said Biden. Biden made the remarks while addressing a crowd at Allen University. “The Voter ID law in South Carolina is in effect for this election, but you can’t let it deter you from voting,” said Biden Jobs were also a topic. “The fact of the matter is, last month unemployment fell below 6% for the first time since 2008,” said Biden “First and foremost, Vice President Biden’s trip here today to South Carolina is a colossal waste of taxpayer dollars, all for political purposes. It cost about $200,000 per hour,” said Matt Moore, Chairman of the South Carolina GOP Across town at the South Carolina Republican Party headquarters, Chairman Matt Moore touted job growth in South Carolina. “Governor Haley has brought over 50,000 new jobs to South Carolina, despite the headwinds created by Barack Obama and Joe Biden. So, for Joe Biden and Vincent Sheheen to be talking about bringing jobs here, it’s pretty ironic and pretty hypocritical,” said Moore. This was Biden’s second visit to Columbia this year. He was also here in May when he addressed the graduating class of the University of South Carolina. But, this time, it’s clear that politics played a major role in his return to the Capitol City. “Even when the federal government is paying 100% of the Medicaid expansion, your governor is denying 200,000 South Carolinians additional Medicaid,” said Biden “He’s here to support Vincent Sheheen, who is running for governor. They are both lock-step with President Obama’s policies that have failed this nation so badly. We’re here to say, as Republicans, we don’t want those policies in South Carolina,” said Moore.
