Sen. Scott helping train vets for civilian jobs

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — U.S. Tim Scott is launching an initiative he hopes will help veterans find work in the civilian world.
Starting next week, the South Carolina Republican is putting on a series of workshops to help veterans learn how to properly showcase the skills they learned in the military when applying for civilian jobs.
Scott is announcing the effort Wednesday. Before the announcement, he told The Associated Press that many military members have very marketable skills but are nervous about working in the civilian world.
Workshops are planned Columbia, Myrtle Beach, Greer and North Charleston. Scott says the effort is, in part, preparation for veterans’ job fairs he’ll be putting on next year in South Carolina.
