Rubio returns to South Carolina to talk to voters

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) – U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida is returning to South Carolina to talk to voters who will cast the first ballots in the South in the 2016 Republican presidential primary. Rubio is joining U.S. Sen. Tim Scott at a lunchtime fundraiser Wednesday in Columbia. The senators are raising money to help South Carolina Republicans get out the vote for the midterm elections on Nov. 4. It’s Rubio’s second trip to a South Carolina fundraiser in less than two months. Rubio went to Anderson in late August and was heckled for his stance on immigration when he spoke at a barbecue sponsored by fellow Republican U.S. Rep. Jeff Duncan. There should be no hecklers at Wednesday’s event, which is being held at a private event hall in downtown Columbia.
