Rubio returns to South Carolina to talk to voters

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida sounded like a presidential candidate in a speech in South Carolina.

Rubio has not yet said he is running. But he only briefly mentioned Republican candidates during his 20-minute speech at a Columbia fundraiser Wednesday outlining his conservative, populist vision to improve America.

Rubio says college should be more affordable. He also says Republicans need an alternative to the new health care law instead of just overturning it.

U.S. Sen. Tim Scott joined Rubio at the luncheon.

Rubio was asked about the state’s other U.S. senator, Lindsey Graham who has said Rubio was not ready to be president because he was afraid of the right wing of the party.

Rubio says the comments were likely just politics and he has no problem with Graham.
