USC-Auburn Tied At 21 At The Half

The South Carolina Gamecocks are tied with the Auburn Tigers 21-21 after a first half shoot-out on the plains. Gamecocks opened the game on a 7 play, 75-yard drive capped off by a Dylan Thompson 32-yard touchdown pass to Shaq Roland. The Gamecocks tried to build on the early lead, stopping Auburn on the following possession. The Gamecocks would get the ball back and drive down to the Auburn 11 yard line but Thompson would through an interception right to Auburn linebacker Cassanova McKinzy. Auburn took advantage of the turnover on the ensuing 11 play, 92-yd drive finished off with a Nick Marshall 3-yd touchdown pass to Brandon Fulse to tie the game up at 7-7. Gamecocks responded with a scoring drive lead by effective running from Mike Davis. Thompson would find Pharoh Cooper on a 16-yd touchdown pass to regain the lead 14-7. Auburn would churn up yards on the ground on the next drive and cap it off with a 2-yard rush by Artis-Payne to tie the game once again. The game really turning into a shootout at this point, the Gamecocks would respond with a 27-yard touchdown pass from Thompson to Davis to regain the lead. Following drive, Auburn’s Marshall would score on a 37-yard touchdown run to tie the game at 21 all. The Gamecocks totaled 267 yards in the first half and were out gained by Auburn by 10 yards.
