Sen. Lindsey Graham Talks About Phone Call from Obama
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — “We did well because of President Obama’s failures,” says United States Senator Lindsey Graham, R- South Carolina There’s no doubt about it, Americans sent a message at the polls. President Barack Obama addressed the Midterm Election Wednesday, “They want the people they elect to work as hard as they do.” “The message was we don’t like the way the country is going. Overwhelming discontent with President Obama’s policies. His policies were on the ballot. Obamacare is blowing up in his face,” says Graham From his Columbia office, and fresh off the successful campaign trail, Senator Graham talked about a phone call he had with President Obama following the election. “He said, there’s a lot we don’t agree on and we never will. I said, “Yeah, you’re right.” But, there should be enough that we can restore confidence in the American people that their government is not completely broken. And he said, let’s try some small and medium sized endeavors to create momentum that may lead to a bigger, deal,” says Graham. As far as issues, Graham says the two spoke about infrastructure and immigration, among other things. Graham says he cautions Obama not to pass immigration reform via Executive Order. He also says if Republicans don’t do their jobs right, the tables could turn in 2016. “If the president challenged the Republican party to come meet him in the middle and we refuse that challenge, we will do poorly in 2016. Conversely, if he continues to stiff arm us and be a distant president, who only talks on the phone and doesn’t engage the Congress, Hillary Clinton and every Democrat in 2016 will pay a price,” says Graham
