SC Highway Patrol dedicating rest areas to officer

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina officials are dedicating two new rest areas in Orangeburg County in the memory of a fallen officer.
On Wednesday, officials from the Department of Public Safety are holding a ceremony in Orangeburg to honor Highway Patrol officer Roy O. Caffey.
Caffey was shot and killed while on patrol in Orangeburg County in 1972. The case was unsolved until a 1997 television broadcast led to the arrest of a woman who claimed she was present when Caffey died.
The two men she said had shot the officer had since died.
Caffey was with the South Carolina Highway Patrol for 25 years.
