Dutch Fork High School is headed back to its third straight class AAAA state championship football game. The Silver Foxes earned a chance to defend their state title with a dominating 41-6 win over Byrnes Friday night in the AAAA division I semifinals. Matt Colburn and Steven Davis combined to ground and pound the football on offense while the Silver Fox defense limited normally high-scoring Byrnes to next-to-nothing en route to a 28-0 halftime lead. A.C. Flora’s class AAA run came up one game short of the championship game. The Falcons lost 40-21 to South Pointe at Memorial Stadium. Newberry and Keenan finished as state runner-ups in their respective divisions. Newberry lost 49-27 to Dillon in the class AA division one title game. Dillon won its third straight state championship. Keenan, playing in its first ever football state championship game, lost to Timberland 35-12.
