Air Force: Colorado captain killed in F-16 crash

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — A 30-year-old Air Force captain from Colorado has died when his F-16 jet fighter from South Carolina crashed in the Mideast.

The Air Force says in a statement released Tuesday that Capt. William H. Dubois (Doo-BWAH) of New Castle, Colorado, died Monday.

The release did not say exactly where the crash occurred except to note it was near a coalition air base in the Middle East.

The release said Dubois was assigned to the 77th Fighter Squadron from Shaw Air Force Base in central South Carolina.

The Air Force often doesn’t identify where its jets are flying in the Middle East for security reasons.

In October, Air Force officials said a squadron of F-16 fighter jets departed the base near Sumter to join in airstrikes in Iraq and Syria.
