New Fairfield County sheriff being sworn in

WINNSBORO, S.C. (AP) — Fairfield County’s new sheriff is getting his badge.
Will Montgomery will be sworn in to his new job at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Fairfield County courthouse in Winnsboro.
Montgomery won a special election last month to replace Sheriff Herman Young, who retired before his term expired for health reasons.
Montgomery has spent the past 13 years working with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, most recently as a shift supervisor. He lives in Winnsboro with his wife and daughter.
Montgomery’s father, Bubba Montgomery, was sheriff in Fairfield County for 12 years, and his grandfather, S. Leroy Montgomery, was also sheriff in the county for 12 years.
