Newberry Hoops Cracks Top 25 For First Time

WICHITA, Kan. (NC SID) — D2SIDA has released its National Poll for the week beginning December 2, 2014 and the Newberry College men’s basketball team currently sits No. 22 in the poll. Since the Wolves’ inception into Division II during the 1991-92 season, this is the first time the men’s basketball program has made an appearance into a Top 25 poll. Newberry earned two victories this past week including a big conference win over the Catawba Indians on Tuesday evening in Salisbury, 108-101. Following that win, the Wolves put together a fantastic team effort on Friday evening at Southern Wesleyan as they defeated SWU in convincing fashion, 118-78. Newberry hits the court next on Saturday at 4 p.m. when they play host to the Anderson Trojans from Eleazer Arena. After that contest, the Wolves host College of Faith from Charlotte on Wednesday evening. In the NABC National poll also released on December 2, 2014, Newberry is listed in the receiving votes section having received 23 votes. This places them 18 points out from No. 25 currently occupied by Florida Tech. D2SIDA Poll NABC National Poll Rank
