Man leads Kershaw County deputies on 120 mph chase
CAMDEN, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say a convicted felon who recently got away from Fairfield County deputies in a high-speed chase couldn’t shake off officers in Kershaw County.
Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews said in a news release that one of his deputies tried to stop 62-year-old Henry Brice around 5 a.m. Friday after clocking him going 85 mph in a 55 mph zone.
The sheriff says Brice didn’t stop, leading officers on a chase that reached 120 mph on U.S. Highways 1 and 601. Matthews says Brice kept driving even after a deputy damaged the tires and suspension of his car.
The sheriff says Brice finally stopped and had to be shot with a Taser before he was taken into custody.
It wasn’t known if he had a lawyer.
