Girl Injured by Homemade Cannon
(WOLO) ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C., — Authorities say a 12-year-old South Carolina girl was hit by shrapnel after a relative fired a homemade cannon in a field near Anderson. Anderson County Sheriff’s reportedly say the girl was watching from a distance when the cannon fired around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Officials say right now it appears the device exploded, and the girl was hit in the head with shrapnel. She was flown to Greenville Memorial Hospital. No charges had been filed as of Saturday afternoon. A message left with the sheriff’s office seeking further information on the girl’s condition or possible charges wasn’t immediately returned Sunday afternoon. (source: Associated press)
