Man dies after rescuing wife from burning Elloree home
ELLOREE, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say an Elloree man has died after rescuing his wife from their burning home.
Orangeburg County Fire Chief Gene Ball tells WLTX-TV (http://on.wltx.com/1v8oW4C ) that the fire happened on Saturday afternoon.
Before crews arrived at the scene, Ball says that the man was able to get his wife out of the home before he died, but it’s not clear what caused his death.
Officials are still investigating, but they say a space heater may have caused the fire.
The man’s name has not been released.
