4 dead in Interstate 95 wreck in Sumter County
SHILOH, S.C. (AP) — The South Carolina Highway Patrol says four people have been killed and three others hurt after an SUV ran off Interstate 95 in Sumter County.
Troopers said the wreck happened around 6:15 a.m. Tuesday in the southbound lanes of I-95 near exit 141.
Troopers say the driver of the SUV ran off the left side of the highway and ran into a guardrail before hitting a tree.
The coroner’s office hasn’t released the names of the people killed.
Authorities say two of the injured people were taken to a local hospital, while the other injured person was taken to a hospital in Columbia. Their conditions were not known.
The car had New York license plates.
A special Highway Patrol team is investigating to determine the cause of the wreck.
