Columbia , S.C. (WOLO) — Senator Lindsey Graham is officially exploring the road to the White House for 2016. “”I feel like I’m ready to do this,” said Sen. Graham. “I feel like i’m prepared to be president, but whether there is a path for it, I won’t know until I try.” Last week, he took the first step setting up a committee called ‘Security through Strength,’ to raise money and see what support he can gain outside of South Carolina. “If I were able to be president I would embrace presidency with the same concept I have embraced as your Senator, trying to find solutions to problems that are long overdue to be solved, ” said Sen. Graham. Senator Graham said some of those problems include immigration, the economy, and also our military and national security. “I’ve never been more worried about our country being attacked than I am today,” said Senator Graham. “In the middle of all this chaos we’re reducing our military spending to historic lows.” To secure America, Senator Graham said we need to keep our military in Afghanistan to help their soldiers build a security force that can fight against the Taliban and Al Qaeda. “Nothing would hurt America’s national security more than to have Afghanistan fall back into terrorist hands,” said Sen. Graham. Also to protect our national security, Senator Graham is taking a stance against the release of prisoners from Guantanamo Bay, like the 5 released in exchange for Sergeant Bergdahl. “To expect that the people we’re releasing right now will not go back to the heart of the fight is incredibly nieve and the last thing we need to do in this state of war on terror is send fresh recruits back to the battlefield,” said Sen. Graham. Next week, Senator Graham says there will be a hearing on legislation that will prevent the transfer of high or medium risk detainees. As for his run for office, the Senator says he will make his final decision by May.
