Cold grips South Carolina

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Another cold morning across South Carolina.

The National Weather Service reported that temperatures Friday morning ranged from 7 degrees in Rock Hill to 27 on Hilton Head Island.

A wind chill advisory was in effect in the Upstate, the north Midlands and along the entire coast Friday morning. The lowest reading was four below zero in Bennettsville.

Some schools delayed the start of classes because of the cold.

Duke Energy reported about 3,000 customers without service Friday morning. Most of the problems were in York County.

South Carolina Electric and Gas reported only about 150 customers without service. Most of the problems were in Charleston and Dorchester counties.
