Parents Face Charges after Infant is Hospitalized
(WOLO) ROCK HILL, S.C. Two South Carolina police officers are facing charges after their 3-month-old boy was hospitalized with brain and neck injuries. Area media outlets report the State Law Enforcement Division says former York Police Cpl. Robert Jeff Taylor is charged with abuse to inflict great bodily injury on a child. Both Taylor and Chester Police Sgt. Audrey Schurig are charged with unlawful neglect of a child. Their status wasn’t known Saturday. A statement from SLED said a search warrant showed the 3-month-old baby’s parents took him to Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill in February. The child was then flown to Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he remains hospitalized. York Police Chief Andy Robinson said Taylor resigned on Wednesday. The Chester Police Department said Schurig is suspended without pay. (Source: Associated Press)
