Burned remains of body found in Orangeburg County

NORTH, S.C. (AP) — Orangeburg County deputies are investigating after a body was found in a burned vehicle in a farmer’s field.

Area media outlets report the remains were found near the community of North late on Saturday afternoon.

Sheriff Leroy Ravenell says the body was burned beyond recognition and an autopsy is planned.

The burned vehicle was found when a farmer was out checking his fields.
