Man surrenders in Richland County stabbing

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — A man accused of stabbing a man to death at a Richland County bar has surrendered to sheriff’s deputies.

The sheriff’s department told local media outlets that 35-year-old Robert Xavier Geter has been charged with murder and attempted murder.

Deputies said Geter is accused of getting into an argument and fight early Saturday. A statement by Sheriff Leon Lott said Geter pulled a knight and stabbed 35-year-old James Lewis as he tried to leave the bar. Lewis died at a Columbia hospital

Lott said a man who tried to break up the fight was also stabbed.

Geter was being held at the Richland County jail. It was not clear if he has an attorney.
