Body found burned in car is missing West Columbia man

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say a body found burned in a car in Orangeburg County is a man reported missing more than a week ago from West Columbia.

The Orangeburg County Coroner’s Office said in a news release that testing determined the remains of 22-year-old Adam Berry were in the burned-out car discovered by a farmer in North on March 7.

Berry hasn’t been seen since leaving a motel in West Columbia on March 4. The motel is about 30 miles from where his body was found.

Police say they think someone killed Berry, but that haven’t released any evidence or named any suspects.

Orangeburg County deputies and West Columbia police are helping each other with the investigation.
