South Carolina LB Bryant out with liver injury

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina linebacker Larenz Bryant will miss the rest of spring practice after he suffered a liver injury during a collision with a teammate at the Gamecocks’ first workout on Tuesday.

The school announced Bryant’s condition Wednesday.

Bryant collided with Chris Moody at practice, then remained on the ground for several minutes as trainers looked at him. He was eventually taken to an ambulance and spent the night in the hospital. The school called it a low-grade liver injury and said Bryant would make a full recovery.

Bryant, a 6-foot, 226-pound junior from Charlotte, North Carolina, has mostly played on special teams his first two seasons. He came into spring workouts as a backup behind starter Jordan Diggs.
