Lawyer Says Psychotic Episode Led to Father’s Killing
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) _ The lawyer for a 23-year-old man charged with killing his father say the son recently changed medicine and had a psychotic episode just before the shooting. Media reports said that attorney Michael Brown told the judge during a bond hearing Friday that Osiris Hinton had ongoing mental problems. He did not specify Hinton’s condition. The judge denied bond for Hinton, but left it up to Spartanburg County deputies to decide if he could have a private viewing of his father’s body before his Saturday funeral. Authorities say Hinton shot his father, 47-year-old Rock Hill attorney O. Cyrus Hinton once in the back of the head last weekend at his Spartanburg home. Deputies say he then called 911, telling dispatchers “I killed my father!”
