Paul McCartney Comes to Columbia this Summer

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — UPDATE: Paul McCartney is coming to the Colonial Life Arena this summer. Sir Paul is bringing his “Out There” Tour to Columbia on June 25th. He’s a global rock n’ roll legend and now he’s coming to Columbia. “I will tell you, it’s my pleasure to announce that maybe I’m amazed that we got him, but we did get him, Sir Paul McCartney,” announced Governor Nikki Haley Tuesday. Governor Haley announced the former Beatles star turned solo performer will play June 25th at Colonial Life Arena. “If you ask me on a personal level who I would like to see and you ask me from an arena manager level who I would like to book, my answers one in the same, Paul McCartney,” said CLA General Manager, Lexie Boone. “I’ve got a little bit of a chill, some goosebumps going on today,” said Vice President of AEG Live Carolina, Allen Corbett. “It’s always nice to have a big star play in any venue much less a venue you consider home.” Officials said more than 12,000 fans will get the chance to see the 18-Grammy winner take the stage at Colonial Life Arena. “It’s an amazing show, he plays for hours, hit after hit, music spanning his entire musical career,” said Corbett. As part of his “Out There” tour, McCartney will visit the midlands for the first time in more than 2 decades and as his only tour stop planned in the southeast, officials said it will have Columbia’s economy singing. “We’re gonna have people coming from possibly 200 or 300 miles out,” said Boone. “He’s playing very few dates in the States on this leg that we’re aware of so again, it’s really big for the state.” Tickets for the general public go on sale May 4th. Prices range from $30 to $250. Tickets will go on sale May 4th, according to CLA officials. Organizers made the big reveal at Tuesday afternoon’s press conference. Governor Nikki Haley and University of South Carolina Athletics Director Ray Tanner were in attendance Organizers say it will be one of the largest events in the history of the Colonial Life Arena.
