Spurrier Inches Out Bragging Rights

Steve Spurrier has reclaimed bragging rights in the state of South Carolina. By two inches. This week the Gamecocks coach is one of 13 NCAA coaches to participate in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Challenge. Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney is also part of the festivities in Greensboro, Ga. Monday, the two competed in the Closest to the Pin Competition. Auburn coach Gus Malzahn was the winner, ending up 7 feet and 9 inches away on the 98-yard shot. Spurrier finished tied for 7th at 23 feet and 5 inches away. Swinney finished ninth at 23 feet and 7 inches away. Tuesday, Spurrier will team up with Gamecock great Sterling Sharpe to compete in the full 18-hole Challenge. Swinney will pair up with Clemson great Steve Fuller. $500,000 in charity and scholarship will be on the line.
