Man Arrested in Charleston Apartment Shooting Death

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) _ Police in Charleston have arrested a suspect in the shooting death of a man at an apartment last month. Police spokesman Charles Francis said in a statement that Bryant M. Smith was charged Saturday with murder in the death of 28-year-old George Akeem Bennett of North Charleston. Police say Bennett was shot to death April 18 as he stood outside an apartment. A man sitting in a nearby car was also wounded. He was holding a 3-year-old child who was not hurt. Francis says a second man is being sought in the shooting.
