Blood in Car Leads to Murder Charges in Missing Woman Case
SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (AP) _ Authorities say they are charging a Hanahan man with murder in the death of a 28-year-old woman after police found blood in his car. Ashley Pegram of Summerville has been missing since April 3 after she went on a date with 30-year-old Edward Bonilla. Investigators told the Post and Courier Tuesday they found blood in Bonilla’s trunk consistent with Pegram’s DNA profile, which led to the charge. Bonilla was arrested April 15 after they found discrepancies in his version of what happened after he picked up Pegram. The two arranged the date through an online phone app. Authorities say they think Pegram possibly was a victim of foul play. The search for her body and other evidence continues. It isn’t clear if Bonilla has a lawyer.
