Man Loses Weight Eating McDonalds for 3 Months

Columbia , S.C. (WOLO) — An Iowa man who lost nearly 60 pounds eating only McDonalds made a stop in the midlands Thursday. As part of a science experiment in his classroom, High School Science teacher, John Cisna, ate McDonalds for every meal for three straight months. “Is it possible for a person to become better off eating nothing but McDonalds for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for 90 days?” Cisna explained the experiment. Cisna and 3 of his students set out to find the answer. For three months, Cisna walked 45 minutes 4-5 days a week, stuck to a 2,000 calorie diet and followed the recommended nutrition guidelines set by the FDA. “This is what is astounding, after 90 days I lost 37 pounds, my cholesterol went from 249 to 170,” Cisna said. On a typical day, Cisna started with 2 egg white delights, a bowl of oatmeal and 1% milk. For lunch, he chose between a southwest or bacon ranch salad with fruit parfait and apple slices. Typically for dinner, he had a value meal. “I had french fries almost every day of this experiment,” Cisna said. While experts said they aren’t surprised by his results after sticking to this type of menu, they don’t recommend making eating out a habit day after day. “When you’re eating out, you can get the healthiest option, you can get salads, you can get egg whites that sort of thing but the chicken they put in those salads, it’ll have a lot of sodium in there and that can make your blood pressure go up,” explained Sports Dietician and Certified Personal Trainer Kristen Ziesmer. As for Cisna and his class, he said the results are a lesson it’s not about where you eat but what you eat. After the initial experiment, Cisna continued on the diet for another 3 months but intensified his workout. As a result, he lost nearly 60 pounds total.
