Newberry, S.C. (WOLO) — The search continued Wednesday afternoon for two missing teenagers in Newberry. Newberry Sheriff Lee Foster called the case ‘bizarre.’ “We do know they left together and we do know they left in good health, past that we don’t have a clue,” said Sheriff Foster. Sheriff Foster said 15-year old Jonathan Dennis and 16-year old Alysia Skipper voluntarily left their homes last Thursday in Dennis’ father’s white Hummer. Sheriff Foster explained they may have left because of disapproval over their relationship or social stresses, but could be heading anywhere from Colorado to Charleston. “They’re not worldly people, they are not world travelers or gone with their parents places or been extremely independent in their life so they take off and to me that would make them extremely vulnerable to outside influences,” Sheriff Foster explained. With several tips coming in over the last few days, Sheriff Foster said they are pulling out all the stops but turning up empty handed. “We’re following up on everything but nothing has panned out where we actually see it’s them on videotape,” said Sheriff Foster. With no word form the duo since they disappeared, Sheriff Foster hopes the teens will reach out to the people concerned back here at home. “We’re in hopes somebody out there has seen them, but we’re in hopes even more that the kids will say ‘we’re putting our parents through a lot’ and even if we don’t want to be found, just call home and tell us you’re okay,” said Sheriff Foster. Anyone with information is being asked to contact the Newberry Sheriff’s Department at (803) 321-2222, Police Department at (803) 321-1010 or Crimestoppers 1-800-CRIME-SC.
