Fort Jackson Kicks-Off Retiree Appreciation

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — It’s the start to the annual Retiree Appreciation Days at Fort Jackson. There will be a continental breakfast, starting Wednesday morning at 7:30. It’s going on at the Officer’s Club. Then participants can board the buses for a ceremony at Hilton Field. It’s to honor Vietnam veterans and the graduation of cadets. Other activities include: -A post-wide run, sporting and military competitions -The Vietnam Veterans Moving Memorial Wall -5k Vietnam Veterans fun run -Golf tournament -Health expo -Vietnam Veteran Parade -Closing Ceremony -FJ Hall of Fame induction -Concert and fireworks display Fort Jackson will also unveil the half-size replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall May 14, as part of the Defense Department’s commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War. The public is invited to view the demonstration, the concert and the other events of Victory Week. Last year, close to two thousand men and women participated.
