Crews restore local phone service

SUMTER, S.C. (WOLO) – Crews have restored phone service around Sumter County. Earlier Wednesday morning, authorities reported phone service in the 803-area code was dealing with problems because of technical difficulties from Columbia to the FTC service area. They said emergency 911 calls were not affected, but other calls to emergency responders could have been. As a result, police in Sumter increased visibility around businesses and residential areas.
