Coroner id’s victim found on USC campus

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – The Richland County coroner has identified the victim whose body was located on the University of South Carolina’s campus early Thursday morning. He says Oliver Sherlock Holmes died from head injuries from a significant fall, but there’s still an investigation into how Holmes fell. Authorities found the 26-year-old near a parking garage at the corner of Blossom and Bull Streets around 5am. The school’s police department notified SLED. Under state law, it’s protocol for SLED to look into any death on a university campus. The agency sent officials from its regional office to the scene along with crime scene technicians. SLED says it’s exploring any and all options surrounding the man’s death. At this time, the coroner is not able to comment if Holmes had an affiliation with USC.
