2015 Hurricane season officially underway

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – It’s the official start of the 2015 Atlantic Hurricane Season, and forecasters are predicting a lower than average number of named storms, which is promising news for coastal states, like South Carolina. Regardless of what the calendar reads, we have already felt what can happen over the open waters. The first named storm of the season came last month, making landfall on Mother’s Day in Horry County. Hurricane season will continue through November 30th. The South Carolina Emergency Management wants to make sure you and your family are ahead of the storm. It has released this year’s hurricane guide. If you would like to check it out, be sure to visit scemd.org.
