TALLAHASSEE, FL (AP) — Nick Pappas hit two homers, including a two-run shot in the seventh inning that lifted College of Charleston to a 3-2 win over Auburn on Sunday night. Pappas, a former Dutch Fork High School standout, had three of the Cougars’ four hits to help College of Charleston (45-14) advance to the Tallahassee Regional championship. The Cougars will play Florida State (43-19) for the regional title Monday. Chase Henry (3-1) pitched 2 1/3 shutout innings in relief of starter Nathan Helvey. Pappas homered off Tigers starter Dalton Rentz in the second to give College of Charleston a 1-0 lead. Damon Haecker and Jordan Ebert had RBI singles for Auburn (36-26), which took a 2-1 lead into the seventh. Blake Butler drew a leadoff walk, and Pappas followed with a two-run shot off Robby Clements (5-1). That was the only hit Clements allowed in 4 2/3 innings of relief. The game was delayed 6 hours, 25 minutes by rain.
