Staley, South Carolina sign Georgia Tech transfer in Davis

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina coach Dawn Staley has added a second-high profile transfer from the Atlantic Coast Conference in high-scoring Georgia Tech guard Kaela Davis.
Staley announced the signing of Davis on Friday. After sitting out next year, the 6-foot-2 guard from Suwanee, Georgia will have two seasons of basketball with the Gamecocks.
Davis is the daughter of former NBA player Antonio Davis. She averaged 18.9 points as a freshman with the Yellow Jackets, then finished third in league scoring this past season at 19.2 points per game.
Earlier this spring, the Gamecocks signed ACC leading rebounder Sarah Imobvioh of Virginia. Imobvioh is a graduate transfer and can play immediately.
Davis will fill the role of two-time defending SEC player of the year Tiffany Mitchell, who is a senior this fall.
