Misting stations open to beat heat
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — The City of Columbia is trying to help folks stay cool. Starting Wednesday, the fire department along with parks and recreation will set up misting stations. They’ll be available from noon to 7:00 when the heat index reaches 90 degrees or more. Misting locations can be found at the following locations: -Owens Field, 1351 Jim Hamilton Blvd. -Rosewood Park, 901 South Holly St. -Hyatt Park, 950 Jackson Ave. -Martin Luther King (MLK) Park, 2300 Greene St (corner of Greene & Pendleton Streets) -Finlay Park, 930 Laurel St. -Riverfront Park, 312 Laurel St. Local splash ponds can be found at the following locations: -Mays Park, 4100 Trenholm Rd. -Sims Park, 3500 Duncan St. -Heathwood Park, 800 Abelia Rd. -Emily Douglas Park, 2500 Wheat St. -Roy Lynch Park, Lincoln and Abbeville St. -Pinehurst Park, 2300 Pinehurst Rd.
