City of Columbia issues boil water advisory

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — The City of Columbia Water Works has issued a boil water advisory for certain water customers. Here’s who’s affected: – Benedict St. from Wilkes Rd. to Gabriel St. – Christian St. from Farrow Rd. to Wilkes Rd. The city says these customers need to boil their water vigorously for one minute before drinking it or using it to cook. Also, any ice that was made from water that has not been boiled should not be used for drinking purposes. The city is working to fix the problem. They say a six-inch water line break at the corner of Christian Street and Benedict Street is to blame for the advisory. The City of Columbia Customer Care Call Center is here to answer any of your questions. Just call 545-3300. Questions concerning healthcare facilities like hospitals, nursing homes and assisted living facilities should be directed to the SC DHEC Division of Health Licensing at 545-4370.
