Smaller area covered by heat advisory in South Carolina

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — It’s still hot in South Carolina, but the National Weather Service has sharply reduced the number of counties covered by a heat advisory.

The weather service said a heat advisory was in effect in just six counties in the northeast corner of the state for Thursday.

The advisory is in effect from late morning until early evening. Heat index readings are expected to range from 105 to 108 degrees.

Cities covered by the heat advisory include Florence and Myrtle Beach.
