Late WR McKinley heads up new class for SC hall

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — The late Kenny McKinley is among eight people elected to the South Carolina athletic hall of fame.
The school announced the move Tuesday morning.
McKinley was the school’s all-time leader in pass receptions who killed himself while with the Denver Broncos in 2010.
Others named to the hall included longtime NFL defensive back Sheldon Brown, former basketball standout Devan Downey and current men’s soccer coach Mark Berson.
McKinley was a star of coach Steve Spurrier’s early teams at South Carolina. McKinley worked his way into the starting lineup as a freshman and finished with 207 receptions, the most of any Gamecocks receiver. He stands second to Alshon Jeffrey in career receiving yardage at South Carolina.
Spurrier considered McKinley one of his favorite players.
