SLED Investigating Death Threats Against Legislators

Columbia, S.C. (WOLO)– State Law Enforcement Division is investigating death threats made against state lawmakers in relation to the debate over the confederate flag. SLED Chief Mark Keel says legislators have received threatening communications from people on both sides of the issue. In a statement to ABC Columbia News, Keel says, “There are strong emotions on all sides of this issue. Our goal is to keep that discussion on a constructive path that will be best for all South Carolinians. To threaten the life or well-being of a lawmaker or their family is inexcusable.”
